Throughout summer of 2024, along with some of my classmates from Exeter, I studied through all of the AP curriculum for both micro and macroeconomics. Beyond the curriculum, we investigated economic schools of thought, economists of the past, legislation, and many curves and theories. In addition, Exeter was one of 300 out of a pool of 20,000 schools selected to participate in the inaugural Global NEC round, and three of my classmates and I were given the opportunity to compete. In the competition, we took a qualifying test in addition to a critical thinking presentation round. As a team, we placed first in two of the three test categories, micro and macroeconomics, and we placed second in the third category, current events. Overall, we earned the Gold distinction in the competition, which is given to the top three teams. Individually, I was able to earn the Outstanding Performance award for getting a 5th on the qualifying test.
