I began doing Model UN in September 2023, my first term at Phillips Exeter. The Model UN Club at Exeter was very helpful, teaching me everything from basic parliamentary procedure to resolution writing, in preparation for the upcoming conferences. The first conference I participated in was the Phillips Exeter Academy Model UN Conference (PEAMUN). At PEAMUN, I represented Cambodia in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Committee. During the committee sessions, I participated quite well, proposing the idea of regional/demographic subcommittees of the UNODC, in order to tackle more local drug trafficking issues and problems. My idea was able to get support, and I was able to sponsor the only resolution to get passed from my committee. Due to these efforts, I was awarded an Honorable Mention at the conference, making me one of two Exeter delegates to receive any sort of distinction at PEAMUN. PEAMUN was a great opportunity, and I look forward to participating in Harvard Model UN later this year!
