I began doing Model UN in September 2023, my first term at Phillips Exeter. The Model UN Club at Exeter was very helpful, teaching me everything from basic parliamentary procedure to resolution writing, in preparation for the upcoming conferences. The first collegeiate conference I participated in was the MIT Model UN Conference (MITMUNC). At MITMUNC, I represented Nigeria in the United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees Committee. During the committee sessions, I participated quite well, proposing the idea of regional/demographic subcommittees of the UNHCR, in order to tackle more local refugee crises. I garnered support and allies for my idea and sponsored 3 resolutions in total. Due to these efforts, I was awarded the Best Delegate Award at the conference. MITMUNC was a great opportunity, and I look forward to participating in Phillips Academy Andover Model UN later this year!
